Event Information:
- Why is EDS the title sponsor of the EDS Byron Nelson Championship?
- There are many reasons EDS chose to become the title sponsor of this event, but there are two reasons above all.
- First, it's good business. It's good business to invest in your community. It's good business to partner with Byron Nelson. It's good business to support groups like The Salesmanship Club of Dallas. It's good business to have an event EDS employees can embrace and call their own. And it's good for business when your clients from around the world can experience a premier PGA TOUR event.
- Second, and most importantly, it enables us to reach children who need our help. Since 1969, this tournament has raised more than $100 million to aid vulnerable children and their families – so when an opportunity arose to be title sponsor of the leading PGA TOUR event in charitable contributions, we jumped at the chance.
- EDS has been doing similar work for more than 40 years in the 65 countries in which we operate. Our focus on youth and education reaches into the communities where our 139,000+ employees live and work. This event will enhance our commitment to children who need our help – so this tournament means a great deal to them as well.
- The EDS Bryon Nelson Championship is also an ideal opportunity to heighten the corporation's image. Every week, TOUR events reach approximately 15% of American households and 30 million golf fans of the PGA TOUR. Viewers are 78% more likely than the U.S. average to be a company president. PGA TOUR Viewers are 35% more likely than viewers of other sports leagues to be a company president. PGA TOUR broadcasts reached 89% of US households during 2004. In addition, among the US Population, 64% of people have a positive overall image of the PGA TOUR, higher than any other sport. More people would prefer that their children be influenced by PGA TOUR athletes than by athletes of any other sport.*
